The Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW) offers education at undergraduate, advanced and doctoral levels and is responsible for basic courses in cell and molecular biology. The department conducts experimental basic research in the fields of molecular cell biology, integrative biology and infection and immunobiology. The research at MBW builds on modern and advanced methodology and the research environment has a strong international profile. Subject
Molecular cell biology with focus on protein biogenesis and function.

Subject description
The subject area encompasses molecular mechanisms that are responsible for protein biogenesis, protein homeostasis and/or regulation of protein function in eukaryotic model systems.

Main responsibilities
Research, teaching and supervision.

Qualification requirements
In order to qualify for the position as associate professor, the applicant must have demonstrated good teaching skills and have a doctoral degree, or equivalent research expertise, of relevance to the subject area and the main responsibilities of the position.

All teaching positions at Stockholm University require the ability to collaborate and the general ability and suitability to perform one’s duties. 

Assessment criteria
In the appointment process, equal and special attention will be given to research and teaching skills. The assessment of research skills will focus primarily on merits within the subject area of the position. 

The following will also be considered:
 – administrative skills
 – the ability to develop and lead activities and staff

Teaching and learning in higher education
Completed training in teaching and learning in higher education, or equivalent knowledge, is an advantage. An applicant who has not completed at least 15 credits of teaching and learning in higher education and is not considered to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge should undergo such training within the first two years of employment.

Additional information
The position, in Swedish “universitetslektor”, is a tenured position approximately equivalent to Senior Lecturer (UK) or Associate Professor (US).

Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement at the time of appointment, but the candidate should be able to carry out teaching and administrative duties that require good command of Swedish within a couple of years of employment.
