Main responsibilities
The main duties of the holder of the position of Associate Senior Lecturer is to conduct teaching, supervision and research in marketing with a focus on marketing communication, advertising and PR.

The position includes conducting research (51%) as well as teaching, supervision and participation in planning and development of education in marketing with a focus on marketing communication, advertising and PR (49%). The tasks may also include course development, being a course director, and being a program director.

The person being employed is also expected to engage in the department’s research and be able to initiate, organize and lead research projects. Furthermore, the Associate Senior Lecturer’s  activities should be directed towards international scientific publication and applications for research grants.

Qualification requirements
Eligible applicants for the position of Associate Senior Lecturer should hold a PhD in Business Administration, or have equivalent research skills, for instance within Marketing communication, advertising and PR. Priority will be given in the first instance, to applicants who received a PhD or equivalent qualifications no more than five years before the deadline for applications. However, an applicant who has received such a degree earlier may be considered under special circumstances.

The applicant must have the ability to cooperate with colleagues as well as other abilities that are required in order successfully to meet the demands of the position.

Teaching proficiency should normally be demonstrated through teaching experience at both the undergraduate and master’s levels. Teaching expertise should be well-documented and in a manner that makes it possible to assess the quality of the teaching activities

Assessment criteria
Special emphasis will be placed on research skills in market communications, advertising and PR. It is especially meritorious with recent research that focus on digitalization and digital media. International publications in this area during the last five years are particularly meritorious.

Strong emphasis will be placed on teaching proficiency demonstrated through teaching, course development and thesis supervision, within marketing communication, advertising and PR.

Strong emphasis will be placed on a documented ability to cooperate well with colleagues and fellow researchers.

Strong emphasis will also be placed on a detailed research plan covering the employment period.

Emphasis will be placed on a documented ability to conduct research using both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Emphasis will be placed on administrative skills and proven collaboration with the surrounding society and dissemination of research and development findings.

Emphasis will be placed on having successfully planned, applied for and obtained research project funds from external research funding bodies.

Teaching and learning in higher education
It is a merit to have completed at least 7,5 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education or to have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.

The Faculty of Social Sciences strives for a gender balance, women are therefore encouraged to apply for this position.Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement at the time of appointment, but the candidate should be prepared to carry out teaching and administrative duties that require proficiency in Swedish within two years of employment.

An applicant who does not have at least 7,5 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education, and is not deemed to have acquired equivalent knowledge, must complete such training within the first two years of employment.

Proficiency in Swedish is not a requirement for the position, but the applicant has to be ready to take on administrative and pedagogical tasks that demand an understanding and usage of Swedish after two years of employment.

The length of the employment is 4 years.

Employment as an associate senior lecturer is limited to four years in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100) (HF). The purpose of the position is to enable the associate senior lecturer to develop independence as a researcher and acquire the necessary qualifications for appointment to another more senior teaching position.

An associate senior lecturer at Stockholm University can apply for and ought to be promoted to senior lecturer for an indefinite term of employment if she or he meets the demands for promotion in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the Rules of Employment for the Recruitment and Promotion of Teachers at Stockholm University (AOSU) and Specific criteria for promotion from associate senior lecturer/assistant professor to senior lecturer/associate professor adopted by the The Board of Human Science (Dnr SU FV-2.3.1.2-0026-17). Note that the promotion criteria are the same regardless of the length of the employment.

In the event of a discrepancy between the Swedish original and the English translation, the Swedish version takes precedence.
