Your Role

As the successful candidate, you will join the Security, Reasoning and Validation (SeRVal) group of the SnT, headed by Prof. Yves Le Traon. You will contribute more specifically to a partnership project with Lombard International Assurance S.A. (further referred simply as Lombard). The topic of the project is “Data Science for the Insurance” and it concerns the design and implementation of AI and QA methods to support and improve the operations at Lombard. More precisely, the project investigates concrete use cases for AI and data analytics in order to develop new capabilities such as predictive analysis, client profiling, chatbots, AI-assisted software development, etc. In addition, the project team will assist Lombard in setting up a development pipeline for AI technologies that will enable and facilitate the exploration of other use cases in the future. The project is held in close collaboration with Lombard and, as the successful candidate, you will be expected to spend an appreciable amount of your time in their Luxembourgish premises (located in Luxembourg City, in front of the airport).

The supervision team you will be working with is:

  • Prof. Yves Le Traon: head of SerVal

You will be required to perform the following tasks:

  • Carrying out research in the predefined areas
  • Disseminating results through scientific publications
  • Communicate with the partner to collect requirements and report results
  • Implement proof-of-concept software tools
Your Profile

Qualification: The candidate should possess an MSc degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Applied Mathematics (with background in Computer Science).

Experience: The ideal candidate should have some knowledge and/or experience in a number of the following topics:

  • Data Analytics
  • Data collection and storage pipeline
  • Data Science
  • Financial technologies
  • Machine learning
  • Software engineering

Strong programming skills are required (Python and Java). Experience working in life insurance would be a strong asset, and in the financial industry considered as an advantage.

Language Skills: Fluentwritten and verbal communication skills in English are required. French is a plus.
