At the University of Agder, School of Business and Law we have 2 permanent 100 % positions available, as Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in entrepreneurship, at the Department of management. The position is located at Campus Kristiansand, but teaching will take place at both campuses. The starting date is negotiable with the Faculty.


The School of Business and Law at University of Agder is one of the major university-based business schools in Norway, with approximately 2000 students and around 80 faculty members. The Business School is currently in the process of AACSB accreditation. The School of Business and Law offers an active research environment with close collaboration between professors, post-doctoral research fellows and PhD-students.

Responsibilities

The School of Business and Law is responsible for the Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes in business administration – with a large number of courses and laboratories focusing on entrepreneurship. The faculty is also responsible for entrepreneurship education at other faculties at the university.

The School of Business and Law now seeks applicants who will participate in developing high quality international research teams, strengthen interaction with industry and the public sector, attract external research funding, and develop executive education. The teaching requirements for the position are that the candidate should be responsible for a variety of courses that the Business School currently offers in the area of entrepreneurship and related subjects.

Required qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a PhD/MSc in business administration and/or entrepreneurship with a specialization in one of the areas specified above. He/she should have a publication record in the area of specialization, with an emphasis on a strong research pipeline.

Candidates should have a substantial knowledge and understanding of entrepreneurship in general, and international entrepreneurship theories and research methods in particular. Moreover, candidates should be familiar with the theoretical and methodological intricacies of entrepreneurship research, and preferably also international and cross-cultural research.

The criteria of employment are pursuant to the Regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts.

Criteria for educational competence for appointment as Professor/Associate Professor at UiA.

For appointment as Assistant Professor applicants must be able to document relevant practical teaching competence based on education or teaching and supervision. Applicants who are unable to document such basic competence at the time of their appointment, will be required to obtain it within a period of two years, possibly by completing UiA’s basis course in university education.

Short-listed applicants will be invited for interviews and a demonstration of their teaching competency, usually in the form of a trial lecture.

A comprehensive assessment of the applicant’s scientific qualifications forms the basis for appointment.

Emphasis will also be given to the applicants’ teaching qualifications, teamwork skills and personal suitability for the position

In the ranking of eligible applicants, emphasis will be given to the suitability of each applicant’s field of specialization in relation to meeting the needs of the Department and complementing the academic staff.

The working language at the University of Agder is Norwegian. The successful candidate must be proficient in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, both written and oral. Many of the courses are thought in English, and the the candidate thus needs to master English. The University of Agder will facilitate the completion of courses in Norwegian. Permanently employed staff is expected to be proficient in Norwegian within three years.

The position is remunerated according to the State Salary Scale, salary plan 17.510, code 1011 and code 1198 Associate Professor, NOK 604 700 – 715 900 gross salary per year, or code 1009 Assistant Professor NOK 574 700 – 665 700 gross salary per year. (These are the highest and lowest levels for each code and may be adjusted). Higher salary grades may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants. A compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
