In a joint appointment with the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), the Medical Faculty is seeking to fill the position of

Professor (W3) of a new senior research group “Innovative Therapeutic Approaches to CNS Diseases” at the DZNE Ulm site

The University is seeking to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and particularly encourage qualified female scientists to apply for this position. Severely disabled applicants with equal aptitude will be given preferential consideration.

This position is combined with a professorial appointment (grade W3) at Ulm University according to the Jülich model. The successful candidate (f/m/x) will be expected to collaborate closely with Ulm University as well.

The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) is a world-leading internationally oriented research center, committed to discovering new approaches to prevent and treat neurodegenerative diseases. To this end, researchers at ten DZNE sites across Germany pursue a translational and interdisciplinary strategy comprising five interconnected areas: fundamental research, clinical research, health care research, population health science, and systems medicine.

The DZNE Ulm site is engaged in translational research in neurodegenerative diseases, with a focus on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Huntington Disease (HD) and other neurodegenerative diseases.

We invite applications of scientists (f/m/x) with interest in the Neurosciences and a strong research track record in the preclinical and/or clinical development of innovative therapeutic strategies.

Innovative research, an independent and strong research program and the commitment for interdisciplinary collaborations are expected. Documented expertise in technological innovations such as gene transfer, genomic editing, RNA-interference, anti-sense strategies or similar approaches are particularly desired. The research group is expected to provide a significant contribution to the development of new treatment strategies for neurodegenerative diseases.
