The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine of the University of Luxembourg is opening for its Department of Mathematics (DMATH) a new position of Full or Associate Professor in mathematics, depending on the professional background of the candidate. The position is open in the area of partial differential equations, analysis and numerical modelling.

In case of an appointment as Associate Professor, an evaluation will take place after five years for promotion to Full Professor.

Your Role…

The successful candidate should have made important contributions to these areas and published in top ranked peer reviewed international journals and/or conference proceedings. Substantial experience in the obtention of third-party funding is also required. Significant interdisciplinary contributions at the interface between PDEs and other fields will be considered as an asset.

What we expect from you…

The successful candidate will also have a significant teaching experience and will contribute to the development of teaching programs related to PDEs in the wide sense at all levels, within and outside DMATH.

The candidate should have demonstrated her or his ability to carry out administrative duties. S/he is expected to apply for joint and individual third-party funding (such as calls of the Luxembourg FNR, or of the European ERC program). Evidence of this ability (as portrayed by the candidate’s track record) will be a crucial selection criterion.

Language requirements

The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. The person hired on this position must be proficient in English and either French or German. The University encourages its staff to learn the other language and provides access to language courses to this end.
