YOUR TEAM
IIT is present in Pontedera (Pisa) since 2010 developing a Research Center in strong synergy with the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.
You’d be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where physicists, chemists, surface scientists, materials scientist, biologist, biotechnologist, biomedical engineers collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research.
More specifically, the “Smart Bio-Interfaces” Research Line at CMI focuses on the development and exploitation of physically-active nanoparticles and nanostructured materials, able to provide appropriate instructive cues to cells and tissues; at the same time, particular attention is dedicated to complex in vitro models for the testing of the developed nanoplatforms and to nanomedicine application in altered gravity conditions.
The selected candidate will be expected to:
- take care and running the equipment available in the biological labs, with a particular focus on the platforms for altered gravity simulation;
- handle purchasing of consumables and new equipment relative to the biological labs;
- provide technical assistance to the research;
- provide technical assistance during the supervision of PhD students, MSc students, and research fellowd.
Both junior and experienced (over 5 years of post-doctoral /technical experience) candidates will be considered for the position.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- A PhD in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Nanotechnology, Physics, or related fields
- Experience in cell cultures is mandatory
- Experience with micro/nanofabrication techniques
- High level of English, both spoken and written, is an essential requirement
- Excellent attitude to team working
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Experience in biological testing on invertebrates (specifically planarians) is a plus
- Good communication skills
- Strong problem-solving attitude
- High motivation to learn
- Spirit of innovation and creativity
- Good in time and priority management
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
