Position Description

The Faculty of Science invites applications for a Sessional Instructor to teach the following courses in the Fall 2022 term.

Internship 505 – Science Internship
Science Internship courses each consist of four months of full-time supervised, employer paid work and on-line career modules.
505.01. Science Internship I
505.02. Science Internship II
505.03. Science Internship III
505.04. Science Internship IV

The successful candidate will:

  • Support all students in INTE 505, Work term 1, Work term 2, Work term 3/4
  • Set deadlines and welcome all students to courses
  • Create and send assignment deadline reminder emails to students
  • Track micro-assignment completion and provide feedback to student on assignments
  • Track student term learning objectives and provide feedback, if necessary
  • Answer student inquiries regarding INTE 505 course curriculum and feedback 
  • Offer office hours to provide students with Career Development support/feedback
  • Create and facilitate discussion boards in D2L 
  • Maintain active relationship with Science Internship Coordinators/ Science Internship Team regarding all student work term matters/work placement issues
  • Grade and provide feedback Work Term Reports 
  • Update/finalize grades enter into PeopleSoft/Faculty Centre
  • Update and identify areas/modules that may need updates or tweaking
  • Provide end of term feedback on curriculum successes and challenges
  • Prepare D2L shells for following semester
  • Participate in Science Internship Working Group

Course Hours:  15 units (4 months)

Fall 2022:  August 29 to December 23, 2022

Qualifications:

Applicants will have:

  • A graduate degree (MBA, MSc, DBA or PhD) or work experience in a relevant field is required
  • Previous post secondary teaching experience is preferred

Remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule B. Please see the Faculty Association’s website at www.tucfa.com for further information regarding conditions of employment and remuneration.
