The Corporate Strategy & Accounts (CSA) department at WUR develops the university’s strategy and policies for education and research, both domestically and internationally. They proactively monitor external developments and provide recommendations for changes in strategic direction, partner selection, and agenda setting. CSA also coordinates key WUR-wide strategic initiatives, including the drafting and monitoring of the Strategic Plan and the development of internationalization policies.

In WUR’s international strategy the EU plays a major and growing role. WUR is very active and successful in the European Framework Programmes for Research & innovation, currently in Horizon Europe. WUR is also engaged in a number of important research and innovation collaborations in the European Research Area, like ‘Joint Programming Initiatives’ (JPI) and ‘European Partnerships’. There is close cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) in selecting and developing these networks.

Within CSA, the Joint Programming Team advises on strategic research collaborations and supports international research programming networks. The team is currently seeking a new Coordinating Advisor for EU research collaborations to join their dynamic team.

Job description
As the Coordinating Advisor for EU research collaborations at WUR, you will

  • Provide strategic advice to the WUR Executive Board and Management Board on solicited and unsolicited matters;
  • Collaborate with the WUR Europe Council and Account Manager LNV to ensure alignment with the overall WUR EU strategy and co-funding policies;
  • Monitor and analyse national and EU/international policy developments in the research collaboration field;
  • Additionally, coordinate and manage team members supporting various networks, oversee the implementation of intergovernmental initiatives, and engage with science-policy interfaces.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Strategy & Accounts, you will play a crucial role in advancing WUR’s research collaboration efforts.

Your qualities

We are looking for an experienced professional who has:

  • A relevant academic education;
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make connections quickly on the basis of complex information and can therefore think strategically, but also sets to work to ensure matters are addressed and completed;
  • Demonstrated the ability to operate in an administratively complex organisational context with drive, flexibility, resilience, and perseverance — in short, a flexible, incisive, positive personality with whom people enjoy working and communicating;
  • Experience with research programming processes;
  • Knowledge on Joint Programming Networks/European Partnerships in the area of life sciences;
  • Verifiable experience with science-policy interface/dialogue;
  • Strong and extensive network with relevant governmental bodies like Dutch Ministries and the EU;
  • Good oral and written communication skills in Dutch and English.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 4.644,- and € 6.978,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 13). Working for 0.8 fte is possible.

We offer a temporary contract for one year for 36 hours per week with the perspective of a permanent position after proven performance.
