The Role

You will provide leadership, management and co-ordination for a broad portfolio of work in support University’s strategic objectives for international student recruitment.  The International Recruitment Operations Manager will lead on the operational delivery of aspects of the University’s strategies for student recruitment in order to maximise the recruitment and conversion of high quality and diverse international students to the University.

We are seeking to appoint a results-orientated and student-focused individual to join our International Recruitment Operations team.  You will lead on a number of initiatives and cross team projects in delivering an excellent experience and seamless journey for our prospective international students.   You will manage a small team to deliver a number of recruitment focused operations including enquiry management, the production of international recruitment data and management information, and delivery of international recruitment logistics.

You will be solutions-focused with an analytical approach.  You will have: strong data skills; be data informed in optimising systems and developing and delivering frameworks; and will have strong business processes development and improvement skills. You will be a good communicator developing strong, collaborative relationships to deliver an excellent experience for our students and their representatives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of international strategies for Newcastle University
  • Responsible for student recruitment operations, framework development and stakeholder and relationship management in support of student recruitment 
  • Develop, deliver and monitor annual and multi-annual operational plans and KPIs
  • Delivery of cross functional initiatives and projects in support of the international student journey including:
    • System enablement of recruitment processes
    • Cross functional system implementation, improvement and change projects
    • Support the embedding of overseas operations to Newcastle recruitment operations functions
    • Develop policies and procedures for new frameworks
    • Develop and manage excellent and innovative operations to support student and stakeholder engagement
  • Produce and analyse data to monitor performance of recruitment, agents, team activities and provide insights to add value and compliment work of Planning
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of a range of functions related to international recruitment operations:
    • Enquiry management
    • Agent Commission
    • Production of international recruitment data and management information
    • International recruitment logistics
  • Responsible for the line management and development of the International Recruitment Operations team
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with
    (1) international education partners, agents sponsors and other international partners, with the aim of achieving strategic objectives, and
    (2) staff in professional service units involved in the delivery of the international student journey to provide effective service and co-ordination and deliver an excellent experience
  • Develop expertise in the acquisition and delivery of intelligence, information and data that is effective and applied to strategic priorities and objectives
  • Any other duties as directed

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • The ability to think strategically and experience of both planning and leading delivery against a range of priorities and targets.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, including experience of reporting, and the ability to support the development of highly effective operational procedures and policy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to: contribute fully as part of a team; relate to and influence people from diverse cultural backgrounds; produce high quality writing and presentations.
  • Initiative and the ability to prioritise, handle a complex workload and be self-reliant.

  • A good standard of numeracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work with and leverage digital systems and data.

  • A high level of initiative and adaptability, including flexibility regarding working hours and a willingness to travel internationally when required.
  • A high level of discretion, tact and diplomacy.

Qualifications

  • A university degree and demonstrable relevant work experience in higher education, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in other sectors.
