We’re looking for people driven by excellence, excited about innovation, and looking to make a difference. If this sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place!

Your Role

Successful candidates will join the young, vibrant, and interdisciplinary FINATRAX Research Group, which builds bridges between business research and information systems engineering. The group conducts research on the application and the impact of digital technologies like DLT/Blockchain, Digital Identities, Machine Learning/AI, and IoT/5G on organisations from both the private and public sectors. The group consists of doctoral and post-doctoral researchers from diverse backgrounds (e.g., policy, business, technology), united in pursuit of sustainable technologies that positively impact society.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to make an important contribution to several exciting research projects, most notably, LetzPower!.

Decarbonizing the energy system requires active participation from consumers, and many households would like to engage to protect the climate or reduce energy costs. Unfortunately, energy systems are highly complex, making it difficult for the individual to do the right thing at the right time. In the Luxembourgish project LetzPower! SnT will design, develop, test and evaluate an IT-Tool to create transparency quickly and cheaply, so consumers can decide well-informedly. In a team with developers the candidate will accompany all steps from 1. setting up a survey on customer’s preferences for information, 2. designing indicators that inform customers accordingly, 3. testing the tool up to 4. evaluating its impact on customer’s behaviour. The candidate will apply statistical methods and economic theory to support the project at each stage scientifically. Thereby, experiencing practical work with ENOVOS – Luxembourg’s major energy supplier – as well as publishing in highly ranked field journals.

Next to LetzPower!, successful candidates will carry out research in the context of Prof. Fridgen’s PayPal-FNR PEARL Research Grant in the area of Energy Markets. Successful candidates will thus have the opportunity to investigate a broad range of research areas and design an individual research portfolio. As such, successful candidates will be able to align the skills that they learn pursuing a doctorate with their personal goals and interests.
